I'm being lazy

I have about 50 pages of work to post but I'm being lazy and probably going to post them later this week (and it's only Monday!) I had a blast this weekend at the Tank Muzeeuhm just drawing tanks. It was wonderful and quiet. So great that I had class on Saturday and went back on Sunday. The owner recognized me and not only said I could come in at no cost (it's super cheap anyways) but also gave me an ice cold water to drink while I drew (he also didn't want me to pass out or die in the heat..haha..if only he knew where I was from :). It was wonderful just being in this quiet, breezy yard where I could just study. Also, I started attending a wonderful class of figure drawing with Wll Wston. He is amazing, along with Rchrd Hston. Every time I come out of their classes, I feel inspired to draw and paint even more, and their explanations are crystal clear. Also, their classes are challenging. They hold your hand but don't treat you like an idiot. I enjoy their humility, also. It is the sign of a great teacher who recognizes that although they know a lot, they don't (and can't) know it all. Also, they got me on to studying and appreciationg Srolla and PSKroyer. In one class, he gave the model a scenario (she just got dumped by her bfriend), and she had to play not just one girl but five (her friends who reacted). It was our job to compose the scene with the poses given. So we were not only learning figure drawing, but composition. How bad@$$!! :) I realized two things when I was learning from Wll. One was that that Robbie Wlliams video Rck DJ is anatomically correct (haha!) and that what was helping me to visualize was remembering my grandmother's sewing. My grandmother basically raised eight children on her own (her husband passed away at a young age from a heart attack) by sewing. I don't know quite how she did it but it is remarkable to think about. They never really ate out, I guess, but when I was growing up my cousins and I would know to always expect a Christmas gift of cloth from her (hmm..I wonder what colour it will be this year? lol). She would pick one out and then she would measure us or make sure the measurements she had for us were correct and then sew us outfits for Christmas. She is not capable of doing that today, but I do remember that the way in which she sewed actually lines up with the way the human body is shaped. For example, the muscle over the shoulder does wrap around in the same way that she placed the shoulder pads on a sleeve. It's interesting to think about. Anyways, enough rambling..:)
