been sick
but still chugging along. I somehow obtained the flu. For this week's assignment, you are to take an organic object and create something man-made from it. I decided to take the top-cut off part of a garlic clove and make musical instruments with them. Some of the descriptions are cut off but I had fun with this one. My prof was saying that I tend to think too scientifically sometimes (well I do work in a tech field and I kind of am in love with how things work, although I can appreciate beautiful form) and I should just let go and focus on the form a bit. We were supposed to use watercolours and some fancy Hi Tec pen but I just used my Tombow, a waterbrush (Aquash) pen and a Sharpie pen to make these. He said to keep them loose.
I experimented around a bit with instruments (since I used to sing for 10 plus years, was in three choirs at one time and played a trapset for 2.5 years (everyone in my family actually plays at least one instrument) that you need to push, pull to generate sound, instruments that do other things like walk or that you have to climb to generate sound, instruments that generate light and instruments that augment the natural voice (since architecturally a cone is one of the best sonic power-houses...think steepled churches.) Also ones operated by multiple people, or one that has one guy at the top loading a fluid into, which determines the sound, and has a pipette device that can release water. Or one that breathes like a human skin and releases sound (not sure if it is audible to humans). I also thought about an instrument embedded into a hill/cliff that you climb to the top of to generate sound, and it warns the troops of a village or city. Anyways, need to stop doing the science thing, but science is so fun! LOL.
