I'm really sick this weekend

I got the cold on Thursday evening, even though my prof has this purifier which spews billows of mint smoke throughout class. Apparently, I must have gotten something on my way home, so I've been tired and just drinking a lot of soups/ R@men..fill in the blanks.

I stumbled upon this really interesting lecture today that spoke about using H@skell for web development. It's really great, because the tool, called Sp0ck, also works with J@va, which I started learning this Friday, and I really really like learning H@skell... I even saw someone did a neat d@ta Viz application with it, which is fantastic (since I have a little D@ta viz experience with my puny little class and all that).

I took a bunch of notes and I still of course don't understand everything, but I was able to type along with the lecture. I'm def not at that point of the guy who was teaching, but that's okay. Everyone must start somewhere.

I followed a simpler tut and was able to get it to compile (yayy).

I also realized I really need to eventually learn SQL. It's one of the advanced classes so I need to work my way through. So far, it's been a really enjoyable (although tiring) week. All of the classes are really great. My J@va class is packed...and I mean, standing room only, hoping for some to drop, but I'm officially in, and I plan to make the most of it. I was able to get my "Hello world" to work, too, while he was chatting.
. Interesting, as some people say it's "dead", while others say "how can it be if it's used to run most of the applications used today?" My prof, for example, has written stuff for S0ny Pl@ystation, among other things. But this is just a beginner course with him.

Anyways, here are some of the notes from this video tonight. It would be really cool to go one day, when I am better at this programme. It's an event held in Zur!ch every year...(can you say hello...I'm there!? :) . I hope I can continue to truck my way through some of the other vids this weekend, while getting some rest.
