some works over the weekend
A master copy from class of a S@rge@nt. Used a different technique (slightly) that Will showed me of using kind of the sketching technique/ more filler to carve out the planes lightly and then paint over, but also mixing a warmer and cooler version next to each colour on your palette, and also testing it out below the actual painting (instead of glazing like I do). He says Think Mix Think Test Paint. He says anytime you start dab dab dabbing, it is usually because you're not thinking/focusing and it's important to do so. It's true that I do get caught up very much in the 'feeling' moreso than the thinking. There is one lady in my class who needs to understand and identify what kind of red something is and how this person got this colour (X+Y+Z) and I usually just go "ooo..that was wrong..it's more bluish" and then "hmm..this feels right or close". So different techique/process.
I also started a portrait that I'm working on. It's my last week of the Z0rn (wahhh) so moving on to a full palette. I have all week with this one, but I plan to finish my sculpting also. I tried an underp@inting of m@rs black, chr0mium 0xide green and fl@ke white, but my fl@ke was a different brand and series so it was slightly clumpier than the other two colours. I'm also using another medium to experiment. But this is just the first layer after the drawing so we shall see.
