start-a-sculpt-day
Since my 25 pound of WED is holding down my easel (jerry rigged contraption), I decided to start a sculpt with some V@n A!ken pl@st@lin@ I got recently. It's VERY smooth, pliable (yay, I figured out after looking at some tutorials that I didn't have to be a slave to that oven contraption with the 60 watt bulb, which is good because I don't have access to a clamp light yet) when heated (I put it in the oven on the lowest setting and keep an eye on it...I think it was my current prof who was saying the key is to have it on a consistent, low setting..so no microwave or high random settings..patience is key). It's great in that you can keep working on it...it never hardens and just feels great. I can see why a lot of artists and animators use it.
So I am starting..just put in an hour today. Used a simple armature, some epoxy for the clay to hold on to, and it was fine. Will post as I make real progress this weekend.
