very unfocused!

Hi wonderful Blog!
How are you today?
I am working on a new Game tut (practicing) here, and I"m about 1/3 done or so. Here are some of the images from it today, as well as some code.
As I was packing up, I laughed out loud remembering a <bad> painting teacher in LA who once said that I was "unfocused"; he felt that he had to pull each of us aside and give us "feedback". I was upset about it <read as BS detector went off> and asked my brother, who remarked "quite the contrary; you're one of the most focused people I know." It meant a lot to me at the time.
My brother (whose birthday is today, btw...Happy Birthday Big Bro!) once was told he was distracted in class..it was only when the teacher did some detective work she found out that he was in fact, bored, and looking ahead to another advanced class in front of him (our classes were only separated by blinders/blackboards, so you could see into other classes sometimes, depending). But our teachers were smart and well-intention-ed enough to let him skip ahead; they would never hold you back. Education is particularly important in my country of birth.

My mom has a saying that if someone is holding you back, it's time for you to move on. Very true. The older I get, the more I realize what it means. It's actually a brilliant sign from the Universe that you also need to move on. It  can mean you've also probably outgrown the person/situation, also.

In any case, I'm happy I didn't take on the advice of that <bad> teacher. I would have just been conforming to mediocrity; the whole technique and training was simply too slow for me, with not enough intellectual stimulation. I definitely need to be mentally and intellectually challenged, and am a multi-faceted person. I like that pr0gramming has an endless sea of knowledge, so you can really just keep learning; it's all up to you. My art skills are also coming in handy; I can make or amend my own assets, etc. Neato.
I also have some incredible support; the people are really nice and support each other. Even my teacher, when I had my exam (yay..I got an A), immediately logged in and looked up my grade after I submitted (you get immediate grades once you submit for the final). He seems to have an interest in my learning and works at a major Studio, as well as has a tonne of experience (and is an excellent pr0grammer; very smart guy). I've never thought about really doing any of this, even though I've been surrounded by this stuff my whole life. Even the students have come up to me and said "you should be doing this. You have a knack for this stuff."
It feels so overwhelming; I feel like up to this year in LA, I've never gotten such overwhelmingly great treatment..and it literally started with a sort of accident (I stumbled into a group by accident, which led to another group, and I was hooked). Oh well, we'll see where it all goes, right? Life is an adventure, anyways.
