I'm learning (in conjunction with all the other things in my life) this programme that is mega-related to all the other things I"m learning in my life. Essentially, it's used in d@ta analysis, so that you can look at a bunch of data and determine clusters and figure out patterns. Such things are used, for example, in applications where, say, you want to teach machines how to learn to read human handwriting of different sorts (which is WAY more complicated than it sounds because everyone's writing is different and some people write like crap LOL). The same concept, using wayy more data, is used to teach robots, etc, how to do certain things and learn certain behaviors over time. It's a subset of @rtificial intelligence that I've been really interested in.
So yes, it's mega related to art, I guess, even though it may not seem obvious.
In any case, I just started using one of the programmes that is used to analyze and assess data. It's called R stud!0 and it's written in C. This is just simple stuff. But for example, here I"m plotting graphically/visually two matrices. It's fun stuff!
I think that an artist/ designer could use such patterns and algorithmic data to create topology or design, etc, or new materials.
