No M0t!varti

So as it turns out, the mentor I wanted decided not to choose me, which I know I can't take personally. I also honestly have to say I probably wasn't the best match, either. People are often scared away by those fangs and the warts and I've learned to live with that LOL. Actually, I breathed a sigh of relief because Mr. Sp!derzer0 last minute persuaded me to take his class and I kind of um..spent the M0t!vart! money ahead of time (ba dum dum ching), and I would have had to dip into savings (yes, everyone should have one!). I am excited to meet him and we've been in touch, which is great because his last class was um..10 months ago! Plus, he's working on some of the same movies we're working on at work (double zing!) It's often a no-brainer for me to spend on someone who is in the biz, because that's where my heart is and where I want to end up (and no no no I don't care what you @n!mation people say, I consider them a whole separate category...read "C!nema, F!lm, M0vie" by Ger@ld M@st..note he does NOT talk about any @nimated movies...maybe film ppl would be termed snobby and pretentious in that respect, but it's just kind of the way we see things..sorry.) It's interesting; I am on this forum for all things camera/lighting/cinema related since college and one day they were having a looonnng argument (I believe the heading was "the end of pr0fessionalism") and someone was saying that in the future, someone from an!mation could win an 0scar for cinematography. The response was pretty much 'over my dead body no way is it the same as shooting something; either physically or even in terms of vfx supervision'. One DP referred to @nimation as "all graphic design" and I said "well, that doesn't hold up for things like stop-motion". But then the people I know in @nimation will often say that they 'work in the film biz'. So that's pretty interesting to me. Being in the middle ie very much a part of the biz and also having friends who are in @nimation is just kind of awkward..and weird. I've also been very fortunate that people still keep calling me to be on set and I'm very much a part of the film community, while also being involved with the art community out here in LA so it's a nice balance for me. Speaking of movies.... Anyways...last night we had some scenes from B0nnie and Clyde with the lovely Rachel and Keith. Wow. I really don't remember too much else about these. There was some good Chardonnay last night. It was chilled too, so it was ahhh...let me shut up now....
