studies and other stuff; shape and form

Taking a new class (started Monday; it runs for 12 weeks) so I have to do this 'leave several drawing boards all over the place' procedure, because they're a pain to walk around with all over town, as well as keep track as to which sketch pads are nearing their end at which place. Kind of funny but really worth it because I walk a lot, and walking with those boards are not the best experience (I was even thinking of doing a handlebar type contraption so they'd be easier to hold..maybe I'll do a redesign here (ha!). I've been trying to do more of C. B@rgue's plates (just focusing on one a day; repetition and comparison of shapes). Also, went to the guild panel for this year's noms. So fantastic. They all said they mostly used (and preferred) hand drawing. H0bb!t was the only one that had to use Rhino/CAD just really because of the convenience and their workflow. Interesting stuff. And each process was quite different; some did mostly hand painting, one used a lot more sculpture (the Banyan-type roots (some of them) and the boat in L!fe of P! were sculpted). Great stuff! I also learned that the person who did get the award this year didn't think he deserved it and almost didn't show up (ha); he'd been saying that from the beginning and crediting it more as a $et Dec award, but you know, the people from a certain uni0n who vote are so HUGE (and often aren't very aware of the process)....anyways, enough politics Here are some studies (some from photos and some from dr@wing club. It was a $uperher0 type theme :)
