was trying
to imagine skin hanging off of bone and muscle for this. Same turnaround studies. Next week when we learn about how to put muscle and tissue on a sculpture, I'm interested to see if/how it will change the way I think about the human form. Interesting stuff.

26 hours
I made 20 hours since I had class right before and it ran over by 3 hours (it was a cast molding class so the chiselling and final plaster took a bit longer to dry) and then stayed until my other class (another sculpting class with oil-based clay) and then finished up the rest. So I was literally not home or didn't go to sleep from Sat 6:30am until Sunday 9pm-ish. But it was amazing and I won the first prize of the evening for my drawing (which was unexpected and funny because I jumped into an hour-long pose in the last 20 minutes for that drawing lol). One minute the guy who met me was asking me if I worked at the company (it was not a widely advertised event) and the next he was shaking my hand saying congratulations and a few people came up to me and introduced themselves. I gave the model my drawing and she was really happy because the whole time I was thinking to myself eugh..gotta work on that part on the next one, etc.
I met a lot of wonderful people, and I had a bit of withdrawal on Monday when my mind was just saying 'I want to draw live models. Where can I go tonight?' It was SO much FUN! I really really needed to do laundry though. Seriously. LOL.
Anyways, my teacher said that his teacher once told him that in one of his teacher's classes (clay sculpting) the guy said he'd give two As; one for the person with the best sculpture, and the other to the person who used to most clay throughout the semester. Turns out, the guy only needed to give one A. Lesson learned; try try try.

these scans
are not the best because there is actually a LOT more tone than the scans picked up, but it's also just a good exercise for me to look at line. It was a lot of fun as usual. As one guy said when I asked him "why is it that there are so many people in town who claim they want to be illustrators/ artists but I NEVER see them at any workshops around town?"...."I dunno, but hey, it keeps me working". Haha. Anyways, I'm headed over to the 26 hour marathon this weekend...yeah...up for the challenge. I have a class in between but whatever, I can sleep through that and physically be there and then head back to the drawing workshop after that. It's going to be EPIC!! Only in LA, baby! :) (although, seriously, it doesn't take that much...other places should have stuff like this too! Maybe then all over the world (one day) it will be a super epic event where artists all over the world pick ONE weekend and we ALL have a 26 hour marathon, no matter where in the world we are, and maybe in the end we post work up or something. I don't know. But it would be super cool!
