really
enjoying the character class. We got our homework yesterday..and it was a lot, and I worked yesterday evening until 1am, did laundry at 6:30am (ha! No one was up yet!) and continued working. Finally, at 4:57pm, I am done with the basics of what he wanted. I'm a bit unhappy with some things, so I'll probably be doing a bit extra of certain things as I have time during the week. This Memorial day, (which I understand back home because we give out Poppies but I'm kind of confused in the US by what cooking/searing meat over a hot grill and being hung over to the point of vomiting have to do with veterans who died in the war for us) was an awesome day to just paint all day. I do have some sketches to post, but I'm lazy today and the light isn't the best to snapshot the sketches in my book and then post.
I also have some design work from my other class, which was also fun. I really enjoyed what my prof said about the difference between doing and trying. He said that a lot of people DO but don't TRY. Trying is about pushing beyond what is comfortable for you...reaching way beyond that. Sometimes (as was the case for him) it is because you have no other choice...there are no other options. I relate to that a lot.
I really liked that a lot because I feel like the Universe is always making me TRY. Seriously. Every time I DO, it kicks me in the butt, my world turns upside down, and I'm in try-mode. In fact, besides growing up back home, since I've moved to the US, I can't remember at all any time where I really felt 100 percent 'comfortable', like I could just 'smoke a joint', drink beer all day and watch tv. It has been a run around, but it has helped in a good way to keep me on my toes. So that's good :)
