From one of the more beautifully shot films I have seen in a while (okay, I'm biased; the DP is one of my top THREE favourite DPs of all time) called "Biutiful". Not a lot of people in the US saw it (it was Mexico's submission to the Oscars last year). I saw it three times and it took my breath away; the story, the philosophy, the social questions brought up about death and exploitation and making amends and immigration and life. I think that death and being alone and being a foreigner have so many parallels; it's such a fascinating motif. Okay, I'll stop now. LOL. Oh, and I also went to a Q and A with Guillermo and Prieto (the DP) and Inarritu. So worth it! We even got a manifesto about the film. Just great.
